As of today, Dan's been checking out Freetown for the last two weeks or so... and I am still in the States. I had a small medical setback last week (hemorraghing ovarian cyst -- super painful, I hope you never get one) and found out I can't travel until this thing has completely gone away. So I am not there yet. but so many people knew I was supposed to leave that I thought I should update whoever is actually checking out our blog to get info :) Maybe no one yet, since there's not much to tell so far.
I did want to include the link to a little ofoto slide show of what the house looks like. Dan took a few pictures to send to me, so if you are interested in taking a peak here goes!!

A couple of the pictures are here:

We share the downstairs with Aongus, Jethro, who works for the UN, is upstairs. You can see the ocean in the distance from the back balcony. For interior views check out ofoto.
Dan says the house is up in the hills, quite a ways from downtown. It sounds pretty to me, it reminded him of the drive we had in Costa Rica up these winding narrow roads. We're not too far from the beach, and we share the house with a nice guy from Ireland -- Aongus -- who's volunteering at CRS for another year because he liked Sierra Leone so much! Since I don't know yet how long it will take me to find a job, we're thinking about buying a car and hiring a driver (since a: I can't drive stick and b: i don't have a SL drivers license) so that I am not stuck in the house all the time. The idea would be that eventually I could take lessons and learn to drive myself around!! There's no great public transport system (or health care system, or water/electricity system...) so learning to drive would be a good skill to have. In the beginning though, I am looking forward to walking around the city and getting my bearings that way.
More soon. Just wanted to let you know I'm around a little longer in case you want to say hello!
