So. I've been here about a week now. I think I've adjusted a bit to the heat and humidity, at least it seems that the rash on my arms is getting better. And the blister bug bites up my legs are starting to heal :) Apparently there might have been a nasty little bug in our mattress, but I sat the bed out in the sun all day and there've been no more blister bites. We took care of Dan's prickly heat... and now we're just waiting for my stomach issues to settle down. All in all, a pretty exciting week, don't you think?
I got out a bit here and there, I made a few friends (yay!). Next week I am going on my first informational interview with an NGO here... to see if there's something I might be able to help out with, or if nothing else to start networking until I find an organization that does need an extra pair of hands. I cooked dinner one night - my first attempt here - and the lentils came out so brown and bland that I almost cried. I kept telling Dan that I'll get better at it, and he said "No, it's good"and ate alot of it so I'd feel better. We went to "movie night"on Tuesday night and watched Maria, Full of Grace at one of the expat hang outs. Met a woman there who likes to salsa dance, so I told her to let us know if she gives lessons or anything like that.
Thursday night we had dinner with the rest of the American community at the home of the Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy. Suzy. She was very nice, had a lovely home, and hosted probably 80-100 people at a potluck dinner. There was turkey, mashed and sweet potatoes, stuffing, everything. the works. And lots of apple and pumpkin pie for dessert. It was a pretty incredible event. We met some new people there too -- I'm attaching a picture or two just so you can see our Thanksgiving family in Sierra Leone. Hope everyone had a nice holiday with your families and friends. We're thinking of you! Write when you can.

Hey guys, just wanted to say hey. Let you know that I'm working on setting up the Skype accounts. All looks well over there (except for food and cooking problems). If there's pizza and an air conditioned gym by the beach, how hard can it be? Congrats, Dan, on the Drivers License. Hope you are having a good time together. Just wanted to let you know that someone reads your blog all the time. Haley sends her love, too. Keep posting.
