We're back! Sorry to you loyal blog readers out there who have been anxiously awaiting an update from Freetown. I just couldn't keep it up while I was home finalizing wedding plans and you know how often Dan actually posts an entry... so it just kind of got put on the back burner. But, hopefully now our posts will be more regular. I'll have to send out a mass email, just to let our families and friends know to start checking again!
So, the wedding was wonderful. It really was super special to see everyone and celebrate together. Then we pretty much packed up and came back to Sierra Leone right afterwards. Here's a picture for you - sent by my friend Becca.
Since coming back, I've had a consulting job! Yay! That's about to be over, which is why I have a minute to write and say hi. The rainy season is in full swing. It pours a few times a day, and we hear that the length of the storms keeps increasing until its just raining all the time. The view from the road out of town is beautiful -- the forest reserves are all lush and green -- its just that town is a big, wet ,muddy mess. And our clothes on the line never dry. Otherwise, life is pretty much the same as before.
We've been out with friends a bit, and done some hiking. Its a little quieter with the rains, people stay home more. oh wait, here's one fun thing to report:
We went to the Ambassador's residence last week. The Peace Corps Director from Guinea was visiting with a team in order to determine possibilities for bringing Peace Corps back into Sierra Leone. Its probably been 15 years or so.. but I don't really know exactly... and there is a chance that it might come back. It was fun to chat with the other returned volunteers in the country, and give some suggestions for things to consider. There was a little reception, and I think I saved my napkin -- it looked very presidential -- I don't have a picture of it unfortunately, but you can picture it if you try.
